Night out on steels can leave the feet aching in the morning but all this could be a thing of the past if a new innovation from the UK, takes the load off. The After Party Pump by Redfoot is a twee ballet pump which folds up small enough to fit in even this season’s smallest clutch bag. Sure saves going barefoot on ash felt roads strewn with Chavs, bling and broken bottles. The Bacup Shoe Company came up with the idea after the CEO sympathised with his wife’s friends as they nursed their feet the morning after a night on the town. He designed a pair of stylish heel less pumps that would fold up small enough to fit in a handbag. After two years of research and several prototypes the right shoe and materials emerged. The Bacup Shoe Company then commissioned four fashion students from University of Central Lancashire to create colours and styles for the range. The After Diner Pump has a patented split sole that allows it to fold up into its own tiny pouch so it can slip discreetly into the handbag alongside the lipstick and mobile phone. The shoes are available in 12 designs.

The best part about these shoes, despite the genius idea, is that they’re actually fashionable. They’re cute enough to wear during the day instead of sweating in boring flip flops.

The blogsite, The New Pink, wrote a review for the shoes after one of the editors discovered the shoes. “I went shopping last week and wore a pair of ridiculously high shoes that began to cripple my feet within the first hour. After I hobbled along for what seemed like a lifetime I headed into New Look to buy a cheap pair of flip flops so I could continue my shopping spree. Bearing this experience in mind you can imagine how thrilled I was this morning to discover a range of fold-up shoes, ideal for the end of a night out when you’re stumbling home or in my case if your shoes are just too uncomfortable to bear.”

The shoes were showcased at Graduate Fashion Week 2007 in June in the UK, where America’s newest sweetheart, Victoria Beckham, was among one of the judges. The shoes are offered in various forms of ballet slippers such as microsuede, pearlized satin, and metallic microsuede. Redfoot also offers three different pairs of strappy sandals and two pairs of tie-up sandals for those who still want to show off their pedicures. All the shoes are valued at 37 euros or about $50.
